Sherrardspark wood won the Woodlands category of this year's Anglia in Bloom competition and was awarded a Gold Certificate.

The Woodlands category is judged on many criteria including horticultural achievement, conservation & biodiversity, resource management, pride of place and community participation.  Our fine wood stood up well to assessment on these dimensions. You can read our full written submission here.

To prepare for the judges' visit in July Wood Wardens made sure the wood was looking its best with clear paths, clean signage and freshly scrubbed sculptures and benches.  But the main features which helped us to win are the result of work by Welwyn Hatfield council and the Wardens over many years.

A fine wooden trophy and the Gold Award certificate were admired at our recent AGM.
